Compare six accommodations for this trip

The Lisboa Card can be worthwhile if the transport and included visits match your itinerary. To decide, compare the current cost of the card with the tickets you would buy separately. Do not count attractions you do not intend to visit, discounts you will not use or entries that are unavailable.

What to check in the official source

Lisbon Tourism presents the card with public transport in Lisbon, entry to participating facilities and discounts on services. This description does not mean that all attractions, all transport or all activities are included.

Before buying, check the list and official conditions for each item in your programme. Distinguish an included entry from a discount and confirm if there are reservation requirements. An access announced as priority should not be treated as a promise of immediate entry.

Make the comparison with your programme

Write the list of visits you actually intend to make. Add only the covered journeys you plan to use. Then, use the current prices of operators to compare the total of separate tickets with the card version you are considering.

Comparison: cost of included tickets you would use + cost of covered journeys you would make, versus the price of the chosen card.

An entry you already pay for separately because it is not covered does not represent a saving from the card. A discount should only be included if you choose that service and can confirm the conditions. Avoid adding maximum values of attractions that do not fit the available days.

When is it worth evaluating the card?

Type of trip How to evaluate Main caution
Several included visits in a short period Sum actual tickets and journeys Confirm reservations and opening
Street tours and few entries Compare with necessary transport Do not pay for visits you will not make
Programme still undefined Choose priority attractions first Do not adapt the trip just to use the card
Group with children Compare categories and rules of each ticket Do not apply adult calculation to all
Trip to Sintra or Cascais Check each transport and attraction Do not assume the whole outing is included

The result may differ for two people in the same group. One person may want to visit several monuments while another prefers to stroll. The choice of card should follow this real programme, rather than starting from the idea that the same product suits everyone.

Validity and activation matter

Confirm the available durations, the moment of activation and how the usage period is counted. Also check where to collect or exchange the purchase, what document is needed and how to use the card for entries and transport.

This information should be read before using it on an arrival trip. If your main programme only starts the next day, the activation moment may change the calculation. Also check the purchase, amendment and cancellation rules of the chosen seller.

Closures, reservations and accessibility

The presence of a facility in the list does not dispense with confirming its opening. Check official notices of works, closures or access changes. If an important visit is unavailable, redo the comparison before buying.

For an entry with reservation, confirm the procedure applicable to the card instead of obtaining another ticket without understanding if it is necessary. The rules of a monument should not be automatically applied to another. Accessibility also depends on the facility and the route to it.

Plan first, compare later

Start with the 2, 3 and 4 day itineraries and the organised visits by area. Check the options of airport transport if arrival is part of the comparison. For departures, check separately the guides for Sintra and Cascais. The Lisbon guide brings together the remaining decisions.

This guide does not fix the card price nor guarantee a saving. The decision must use the fare and current inclusions published by Lisbon Tourism and the operators of the intended visits.
