Praia da Armação de Pêra is one of the largest beaches in central Algarve, with more than 1 km of sand and a 4.4 rating. It has a Blue Flag, awarded for water quality and safety, and calm water that makes it a favourite with families travelling with young children.
Getting there and parking
The beach sits right against the village of Armação de Pêra, with direct access from the centre and the seafront promenade — one of the easiest beaches to reach on foot in this part of the Algarve. At the western end there is an adapted access point, designed for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
The sand and the sea
Over a thousand metres of sand meet calm, safe water even for young children — one reason it’s so popular with families. At the eastern end, fishing boats still moor beside old fishermen’s huts: in the morning they arrive loaded with the day’s catch, and some also take visitors on boat trips along the coast.
Facilities
The beach has toilets, showers, sunbed and umbrella hire, and lifeguards on duty during summer — everything you need for a full day out with the family.
Where to eat
Along the promenade there are several restaurants and open-air bars, many with viewpoints over the sea — ideal for a fresh fish lunch or a late-afternoon drink.
Nearby beaches
Praia Grande (Pêra) is just 400 metres away, and Praia de Albandeira about 1.7 km — both a short walk away. A little further, Praia da Galé is about 2.8 km — easy to combine with the others in a day.
