Train: exact stations and connections at Tunes or Faro
The CP timetable in force since 19 July 2026 includes Alfa Pendular and Intercidades between Lisbon and Faro. In Lisbon, services depart from Oriente and Entrecampos. Intercidades 570, 572 and 574 also stop at Sete Rios, so this station should not be treated as an exclusive coach terminal.
In the Algarve, the train stops at Tunes, Albufeira-Ferreiras, Loulé and Faro. For Lagos, the connection is made at Tunes. For Tavira or Vila Real de Santo António, the connection is made at Faro. These connections are guaranteed only under normal operating conditions, so you should confirm the timetable for the exact day of travel.
The CP price table for 2026 indicates, for the Alfa Pendular between Lisbon Oriente or Entrecampos and Faro, 26.30 euros in Turística and 35.10 euros in Conforto, at full single fare. These values are published fares, not a price guarantee for all services or dates.

FlixBus: stop at Jardim Zoológico, not at the adjacent terminal
FlixBus sells coach journeys between Lisbon and Faro. The stops in Lisbon indicated on the official page are Lisbon Oriente and Lisbon Sete Rios (Jardim Zoológico). The Sete Rios stop is opposite the zoo, and not at the adjacent coach terminal. In Faro, the indicated stop is Alfândega.
The transport ticket contains the most up-to-date address of the stop. Journey duration depends on the route, departure and traffic. Check prices and timetables for the selected date.

Car: tolls, fuel and parking
Infraestruturas de Portugal indicates that toll rates on the A22, in the Algarve, became zero for users at 00:00 on 1 January 2025. This information does not establish that other motorways are free.

Practical decision and onward planning
If the final destination is Faro, the train offers a direct connection from Oriente, Entrecampos or Sete Rios, depending on the service. If the destination is Lagos, the transfer at Tunes may be simpler than continuing to Faro and returning west. If the destination is Tavira or Vila Real de Santo António, Faro is the rail connection point.
The coach may be useful for those departing near Jardim Zoológico or Oriente, but requires confirming the exact address of the stop and the timetable for the day. The car eliminates transfers, but requires calculating tolls, fuel and parking before comparing costs.
