The third highest peak in Madeira, and the only one of the major peaks accessible by car, unlike Pico Ruivo. That is why it is the most used starting point of the Vereda do Areeiro (PR1).
Popular for watching the sunrise and the cloud inversion phenomenon over the valley, when the sea of clouds lies below the viewpoint.
