It connects Pico do Arieiro (1.818 m) to Pico Ruivo (1.862 m), the highest point in Madeira, passing by Pico das Torres (1.851 m). It is 6.1 km one way only, normally combined with transport at both ends, since most people do not return on foot the same way.
The route includes several unlit tunnels and exposed sections along the ridge, bring a flashlight and suitable footwear, and do not proceed in bad weather.
