Praia da Batata is a sheltered cove right at the edge of Lagos, a five-minute walk from the historic centre. With about 150 metres of fine golden sand, calm water, and a 4.5 rating, it’s one of the town’s most convenient beaches — and one of the best for families.
Getting there and parking
It sits by Avenida dos Descobrimentos, where there is paid parking, and is easily reached on foot from the historic centre in just a few minutes.
The sand and the sea
Around 150 metres of fine golden sand sit in a sheltered cove with calm water — ideal conditions for families with children. At one end, a tunnel carved through the rock connects Praia da Batata to the neighbouring Praia dos Estudantes, a scenic passage between the two beaches.
Facilities
Being so close to the centre, it has all the town’s services just steps away, plus beach support in high season. It’s rated excellent for families.
