Praia de Porto de Mós is the second largest beach in Lagos, with about 800 metres of fine golden sand set between imposing cliffs. It has a Blue Flag and a 4.7 rating, and a southwest-facing orientation that sets it apart from the other beaches in the area.
Getting there and parking
It sits west of Lagos centre, with free parking next to the sand — an advantage in an area where paid parking is the norm at most beaches.
The sand and the sea
Around 800 metres of fine golden sand run along dramatic cliffs. Because of its southwest orientation, unique among the Lagos beaches, the water tends to be moderate to choppy — better suited to those who enjoy a bit of swell, with extra care for young children.
Facilities
As a Blue Flag beach, it has good facilities during the bathing season, with lifeguards on duty in summer. It’s rated excellent for families.
Where to eat
There are seasonal beach food outlets by the sand, and the centre of Lagos, just minutes away, offers a wide choice of restaurants and cafés.
